the exotic setting that witnessed the birth of buddhapearls was an unforgettable sunset at Blue Ocean Beach in Bali towards the end of the 80’s. Karen Höreth discovered the magic of pearls, helping a disillusioned guitarist overcome a profound crisis. It was full moon, and she created her first jade pearl necklace with Bali silver and a Buddhist tassel as the centrepiece, symbol of oneness and energy. After passionately dancing the night away, the guitarist set off to Barbados with his new necklace in order to meet another band member. Three days later, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards buried the grudge they had been holding for years and decided to go on tour again.
Karen only got news of this much later. She was in Thailand by then, designing her first jewellery collection.

For Karen Höreth from Berlin, good design has always been a question of dedication. For her, the connection between love and luxury is more than just a promise. That was evident in the 90’s, when she was designing extravagant fabrics for the Berlin fashion label “Beam me up Scotty”, and it can be seen today when she creates her jewellery collections. Her next one will combine the finest gems from China, Tibet, Indonesia and Hong Kong. Her search for unique materials has taken her around the globe and back. At the end of the nineties, she found her new creative home in Ibiza. She designed a millenium edition, inspired by foreign countries and cultures – and demand kept increasing.
